Paper + Book Review
Rating System
Reading is a deeply personal experience that cannot be reduced to a number. Thus, my scale is from 1-3 on how much I recommend the book to the general audience.
1 - Do Not Read
2 - Read if Interested
3 - Must Read
Books
OSTEP (Arpaci-Dusseau x 2) | 3
- Fundamental -- any CS student should understand the basics!
Modern Compiler Implementation in Java (Appel) | 2
- Niche -- unless you're into compilers this isn't the most useful.
- Funny -- Appel throws in some sillies for you!
How to Scale Your Model (Deepmind) | 2
- Perfectly dense -- very little fluff, but enough to let you think through the example without external resources.
- Modern -- unlike most textbooks, this is incredibly relevant to real world problems.
Papers
Maybe Later... Too many...
Backlog
I pretend I will read these... but probably won't have time. These are my impressions.
Understanding Analysis (Abbot)
- Easy -- unfortunately Baby Rudin was too much effort for what I get.
Computer Architecture: A Quantitative Approach (Patterson, Hennessy)
- Interested -- I would like to learn more about computer architecture!
